Austin Helt
Port City July 18: Finished Fourth in the Heat race, which qualified
automatically for the A-Main. Started inside row Six, and going into
the second turn the pole car in row five spun. Austin had no where
to go, and ended with a very bent right nerf bar which dug into the
right rear tire like a break. He finished tenth, in a broken car. New
tire will be needed for next week. Solid Third in points, but fell back
from first and second, but not too much.

July 10th Al Lemons Memorial Make Up Finals Night : Had already
qualified for the Main per the first nights racing, started out side
second row in four car Dash to set A-Main first four starting
positions, finished third. Perfect. Start A-Main inside row two,
running third, making move for second, but there is a big wreck of
other cars. Restart, "Rookie First Year Mistake" - Austin went a bit
high on the restart to gain momentum. He is penalized and goes to
the back of the twenty car field on the restart. He did not know this
was a not to do that, but he sure does now. Finished 8th which is
fine considering. Won't do that again that is for sure.
Record is now
FIVE Heat Wins, ONE B-Feature Win, and ONE A-Feature Win, Third
in Points. Back to
THIRD in POINTS.

June 9th at Port City : WON Heat, and finished 7th in the A-Main.
July 2 Al Lemons Memorial two night race at Port City : Draw for
starting position, high number draw, passing points, passed two
cars which is enought to start the A-Feature. Started inside row five
of the A, finished 4th, the Direct Transfer spot to the next nights
A-Feature. Then the rains came and the weekend was over.

June 26 at Port City : Eight car Heat race from outside Thrid row,
dropped down, running smooth, spun beside the points leader.
Sure was fun watching him floor board it and move that tractor tire
barrier down the back stretch with dust flying. B-Feature, started
inside row four, and picked his way forward. WON the B-FEATURE.
A-Feature started in the back and got in another wheel jumping
wreck with the same car, and came off on the hook. Bad points night
for the 47 team. But did WIN THE B-FEATURE from way back in the
pack.

June 18/19, 2010: ASCS2 at Port City : Fri Night, Won Heat Race of
eight cars from outside front row. Feature was started from fifth
position inside row three after the top six were scrambled. He was
running a solid fifth, nosing in and out on the fourth place car. He
hit a rut in turn two, lost a position, and then a few more and
finished eighth. Very Good for the level of competition. Sat Night,
drew back of field start position, was the middle part of a 47
"sandwich", went off the track on the hook w/ a bent steering bar,
started back of B Feature, and stayed there, but ran and drove really
hard and well. FOUR HEATS and ONE FEATURE is the total record
so far.

June 11, 2010: Wrecks happen, 4th place in points: Austin ran
fourth in his heat, transferred to the A-Main as outside of row 4 of 8
rows (16 cars). In only the first few laps, a car spun right in front of
the 47 car, which was moving forward. The light contact was enough
to break the rod end on the steering arm. Austin went off on a hook,
finishing 15th. Stuff Happens.

June 4, 2010: Third Place in Points:
Austin finished third in the Heat Race. He started the A-Feature
inside row 4 in 16 car field. He was running in third when light
bumper to bumper contact was made with the second place car.
Austin did a 360 spin, kept running, fell back to ninth, then hit a hole
in turn four. The 47 car stood on its nose for what seemed like a
long time, and then fell back on its wheels. He re-fired the engine
and finished ninth with a broken shock and bent rods. This still
moved him to third in the point standings.
